''Estia Pieridon Musson'' was founded in spring 1954. Most founders came from a remarkable Choir, which already made a significant course in the cultural life of the city during the years after the possetion. With the statute of 1957 Estia Pieridon Musson had the opportunity to extend its action to other fields of art, maintaining the tradition inherited from the Choir and expanding its activities to provide the essential pillar of cultivation and development of Culture in Pieria.
So it happened!
Already operating dynamic amateur classes of creation in the following areas:
the Music, with the music sets ''the Parolympioi'' in folklore, ''De Profundis'' in artistic, four-voice mixed Choir and Orchestra.
the Dancing, with the dancing – folklore traditional band and the organization of the unique 20-years-old now International event in our region being known as ''International Festival of Tradition of Pierides Mousses''.
the Visual Arts, with a strong presence of the photographic team ''Iris''.
the different forms of Speech and Art with the leading series of conferences known as ''Pieria in Byzantine and modern times'', and several individual and group Exhibitions of artists of all types of art such as painting, sculpture, painting, engraving, pyrography, crafting etc.
Until re-staffing, Estia Pieridon Musson also maintains the following areas:
the Theater, which holds a fabulous course in the past as ''Pieria Theater''.
the Library.
and the Historical and Folklore Research.
A turning point in its history in 1972 when the Management back then in collaboration with the Local Authorities and Archeology, organized at the Ancient Theater of the Archaeological site of Dion, the ''Festival of the Musses'', which from the next year was named as ''Olympus Festival'' and still takes place in July and August, with its cultural presence and a variety of artistic performances to enjoy and educate the people of Pieria and foreign tourists - visitors of the site. Latest years, the independent agency of Olympus Festival (Or.Fe.O.) is responsible for organizing the Olympus Festival, with the Estia Pieridon Musson having the responsibility of the International Festival of Tradition ''Pierides Mouses'', which hosts in Pieria traditional, amateur, creative artists from all over the world, filling with pageantry and authentic global folklore expression every corner of Pieria.
